David G. Acosta CPA/CFF is recognized as a leader in accounting, tax controversy, forensic accounting, and litigation support. David has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for over 33 years and is also Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The AICPA has more than 430,000 members in 143 countries. It is also affiliated with the British-based Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) which together have formed the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants.

David is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). The ACFE has over 90,000 members and is the world’s largest anti-fraud organization and premier provider of ant-fraud training education and certification.

David served 17 years on the Board of Directors of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA), and he is a Past President of the Houston CPA Society (HTXCPA), which is the 3rd largest Chapter in the United States. David is a member of the Forensic and Valuation Services Section of the AICPA and a member of the Forensic and Valuation Services Committee of HTXCPA.

David has been designated as an expert witness in Federal bankruptcy and district courts, as well as, State district and family courts. His firms have provided financial accounting services including financial statement preparation, compilations, write-up, budget preparation and payroll. He has provided Compliance services including Federal and State income tax preparation and Tax Controversy services including representation and Forensic Investigation services. He has represented individuals, partnerships, and corporations in Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and State Comptroller audits, collections, and offers in compromise, as well as, also before the Federal Criminal Investigation Division.

David has been published in Construction Fraud Magazine, Music Think Tank, and the Houston Chronicle including an in-depth interview titled “Musicians, celebrities say this CPA is No. 1”. David has appeared as an accounting expert on various TV and radio programs, including the IRS’ Tax Talk Today and Huffington Post Live. He is also an instructor of Fraud and Forensic Accounting courses to CPAs and attorneys at law for Continuing Professional and Legal Education. He has also been named a HTXCPA “CPA of the Year”.

David is also a recognized community leader. He is the President Emeritus of the Board of the HOPE Clinic which includes 4 medical clinics, and which will be opening a $33 million flagship clinic in 2022. He served 6 years on the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Assessment Center for Houston and Harris County. He has served on the Boards of the George Foreman Youth and Community Center and the Texas Board of Governors of the Recording Academy (GRAMMY® Awards). He is a past Chair of the National Board of PACIFICA Radio Network, and a past Treasurer of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The Houston Dynamo Major League Soccer Team has presented David an “Outstanding Hispanic Community Leader Award”. David was recognized by the Texas State Legislature when he became the First Hispanic President of the Houston CPA Society in it’s then 88 year history.
